The Five Appropriate Subjects:

Here is where the confusion begins - the five appropriate subjects are determined by each faculty, not by students themselves. The five admitting subjects vary from faculty to faculty. For instance, the Faculty of Engineering only accepts the following five subjects:

  1. English30
  2. Math30
  3. Math31
  4. Chemistry30
  5. Physics30

where the Haskayne School of Business accepts the following five:

  1. English30,
  2. Math30,
  3. a subject from Group A or B
  4. a subject from Group A or B
  5. a subject from Group A, B, C or D

Students with Social30 or French30 cannot be counted as one of the five appropriate admission subject to Faculty of Engineering. Thus, students with Chinese30 but without Physics30 will not be admitted in the Faculty of Engineering. The same logic applies to all faculty admission requirements. All high school students should check carefully with the university and/or school councilor to make sure they are on the correct paths of advancements. Check the university webpage for appropriate subjects for each faculty.
